American sprinter Noah Lyles clinched the gold medal in the men’s 100m at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning by an astonishingly slim margin of just 0.005 seconds over Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson. The race, held on August 5th, was an intense battle that ended in a dramatic photo finish, with Lyles emerging as the victor with a time of 9.79 seconds.

This win is a historic achievement for Lyles, who is also the reigning World Champion in the 100m and 200m. His victory marks the first time in two decades that an American has won the men’s 100m at the Olympics, with the last being in 2004 at the Athens Games.

Kishane Thompson of Jamaica took the silver medal, finishing just behind Lyles with a time of 9.79 seconds. Fred Kerley of the USA rounded out the podium, taking bronze with a time of 9.81 seconds.

The men’s 100m final at Paris 2024 was a race for the ages, with Lyles’ razor-thin victory underscoring the high stakes and fierce competition on the Olympic stage.
