Firewalk Studios’ 5v5 team-based first-person hero shooter Concord made its debut on PS5 and PC on August 24, 2024. However, the game faced an unexpected twist when its servers were shut down just two weeks after launch. Following the announcement, Concord was removed from digital stores, and physical copies were pulled from retailers, triggering a massive price surge in the resale market.
Sellers quickly capitalized on keywords like “rare,” “unopened,” and “discontinued,” marketing Concord as a limited-edition item. Prices skyrocketed, with some PS5 physical copies now fetching as much as £10,000. What was once a short-lived online game has suddenly become a sought-after collector’s item.
The game struggled with low player counts from day one, reaching only 697 peak concurrent players according to SteamDB. Firewalk Studios’ game director Ryan Ellis addressed the shutdown on the PlayStation Blog, acknowledging that while certain aspects of Concord were appreciated, the game as a whole failed to meet expectations, leading to its closure.
